Jacob Schmieder is a junior majoring in biochemistry with a minor in physics. He has been involved with Dr. Claussen’s research lab since the fall of 2018 where he works on creating biosensors using enzyme-immobilized electrodes. He has also been a part of the Stupka Symposium Planning Committee all three years and has served as the food and publicity chair. Outside of the department, Jacob spends most of his free time with the marching band. After graduation, Jacob plans to earn an MD/PhD in biomedical engineering.
Madeline Farringer is a junior majoring in biochemistry with a minor in emerging global diseases. She is Speaker Co-Chair in the Stupka Committee, a member of the BBMB Club Cabinet, and Breakfast Club Co-Chair. Madeline has worked in Dr. Josh Beck’s lab since 2018 developing a knockdown system for studying the malaria parasite. She plans to continue in parasitology research while pursuing a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences.
