Bio

Jennifer Bridwell-Rabb triple majored in Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics at Central Michigan
University and then earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry at Texas A&M University in the laboratory of
David Barondeau. She was an HHMI-NIH postdoctoral fellow in Catherine Drennan’s laboratory
at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is now an Associate Professor in the
Department of Chemistry at the University of Michigan. In this independent position, Jennifer is
capitalizing on her metalloprotein background and studying the amazing chemistry catalyzed by
the Rieske non-heme oxygenase enzymes and the metalloprotein chemistry that is required to
build, modify, and degrade photosynthetic pigments. As an independent investigator, Jennifer has
received awards including the Beckman Young Investigator Award, the Searle Scholars Award,
the Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship, the Ed Stiefel Young Investigator Award, the
Department of Energy Early Career Award, the NIH NIGMS R35 Maximizing Investigators’
Research Award, and the NSF CAREER Award. Jennifer is also a Kavli Fellow.
