Griffin Humphreys is a senior majoring in biochemistry. He has been a member of the Stupka Undergraduate Research Symposium committee since the 2024 Symposium, serving as Food Co-Chair in 2025 and currently as Operations Co-Chair. Griffin has worked in Dr. Reuben Peters’ lab as an undergraduate researcher since his sophomore year, where his research focuses on the mechanisms of diterpene synthases – enzymes that cyclize and functionalize the 20-carbon precursor geranylgeranyl diphosphate (GGPP) in plant terpene biosynthesis. Outside the lab, Griffin enjoys board games and Jeopardy! nights with friends, watching and analyzing film and television, and being a self-proclaimed grill master. After graduating from Iowa State this spring, he plans to pursue a PhD to continue his training in biochemistry and enzyme structure-function relationships.
